Refund Policy

This Refund Policy explains how refunds work on Copythistune. Copythistune itself is free for artists to use — the only payments on our platform are voluntary contributions made by fans to support artists. This policy applies to those contributions.

1. Free Platform for Artists

Copythistune does not charge artists any subscription or usage fees. Because there are no artist-side charges, there is nothing to refund to artists in relation to platform use.

2. Fan Contributions

When a fan voluntarily contributes to an artist through Copythistune, the payment is processed by Paddle, our merchant of record. All fan contributions are treated as final upon successful payment.

Refunds for fan contributions may be granted on a case-by-case basis in the following circumstances:

  • A duplicate or accidental charge
  • An unauthorized transaction
  • A technical error that caused the contribution to be processed incorrectly
  • The contribution was fraudulent or made without the fan's consent

3. Refund Window

Refund requests must be submitted within 14 days of the original transaction. Requests submitted after this window may still be reviewed, but are not guaranteed to be approved.

4. How to Request a Refund

To request a refund, contact us at support@copythistune.com with the following details:

  • The email address used for the transaction
  • The transaction or order ID (found in your Paddle receipt email)
  • The date and amount of the contribution
  • The reason for the refund request

We will review your request and respond within 5 business days. Approved refunds are typically issued to the original payment method within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank or card issuer.

5. Non-Refundable Situations

We generally do not issue refunds in the following cases:

  • A fan changes their mind after sending a voluntary contribution
  • The artist did not respond, collaborate, or deliver anything specific (contributions are a form of support, not a purchase of goods or services)
  • A request submitted more than 14 days after the transaction, unless there are exceptional circumstances
  • Disputed contributions that are later found to be valid and authorized

6. Chargebacks

If you believe you were incorrectly charged, we strongly encourage you to contact us before initiating a chargeback with your bank or card issuer. We can typically resolve issues faster and more fairly through direct communication.

7. Impact on Artists

If a refund is issued for a contribution that has already been paid out to an artist, the refunded amount will be deducted from the artist's next payout or, where required, recovered through other means. We make reasonable efforts to flag suspicious contributions before payout to prevent this.

8. Paddle as Merchant of Record

Because Paddle is the merchant of record for all transactions on Copythistune, the Paddle name may appear on your bank or card statement. Paddle may also be involved in processing your refund. Paddle's own buyer terms may apply in addition to this policy.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent changes. Continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
